If you are like me and you can’t keep your house plants alive then don’t worry! Have you ever considered that it may be your environment and not you! Different plants cope better in different rooms and temperatures, for example in a conservatory where it is hot, dry and sunny, a cacti or a yucca plant would cope a lot better. In a dark, cool room a Ivy or a Dragontree might cope better. The reason why is these types of plants are used to living in areas that does not have much sunshine as they normally live on the floor. The best place for this would be perhaps a bathroom. Lastly, be aware if you are overwatering your plant. This is probably where I am going wrong! I get so worried that the plant is going to dehydrate, that instead I am drowning it! Picture: weebum
The Blobfish arguably one of the worlds ugliest and interesting looking fish is facing extinction. Usually found at the furthest depths of the ocean were they tend to float against their own volition awaiting food to pass them – they are hardly ever seen by human beings. However due to a high demand in deep sea fishing, crab and lobster and other even more exotic creatures, the fish are dying out. The animals keep getting caught on fishermens lines which usually ends up with the creature dying. Subsequently their numbers have plummeted in recent years and they are now facing extinction. Let’s hope that someone can do something to stop this. Image: metro
Appearing healthy and beautiful after the age of forty doesn’t have anything to do with health. Mid-aged women know it best: after a certain age, your body doesn’t function as good as a twenty year old’s. Osteoporosis is a common concern for aging women, as it might kick in at any time. This bone disease is up to four times more frequent in women than men of the same age. Potential prerequisites are a family history of osteoporosis, irregular periods, as well as signs of early menopause. If you are experiencing any of these, pay a visit to your doctor and ask for a bone density test. If diagnosed in its early stages, progression of osteoporosis can be slowed down by diet changes (daily intakes of calcium will strengthen the bones) and body weight exercise (which aids towards a better bone density in the hips and spine). Switching to a healthy lifestyle is highly recommended at this age, not only for osteoporosis, but also for your overall health.
